Kansas, It's OK to be Flat

It seems as if everyone warned us that our drive through Kansas was going to be flat and boring but we LOVED it! It was beautiful and full of the most entertaining random stops. The human Bear wanted to stop in Lucas, KS at a place called: World’s Largest Collection of the World’s Smallest Version of the World’s Largest Things. I can't even stand trying to say that title much less stop there so we compromised and stopped at some individually largest in the world things along the way instead!

Seriously, is this not one of the prettiest views ever? Who needs mountains when you can look at this sky all day?

Stop 1: Blue Sky Sculpture in Newton, KS

I can't NOT dance in an open field with the wind blowing while a train goes by! So many of my favorite things in one place:) We then went to an awesome pizza spot in Newton and talked to some locals.

Stop 2: World's Largest Czech Egg in Wilson, KS

Beast Mode made a friend just sitting by the egg!

There are multiple beautifully painted eggs around the town.

Wilson was a really cute little town. Note: If you ever stop there and have heard about Granny's Soda Shop, don't ask about it! We heard it was awesome but couldn't find it so we asked at a gas station and it felt like a movie where it got really quite and tense. The lady working said, it's not opened anymore and we went on our way after creating a record scratching moment. Later, while we were walking around town, a man that overheard us pulled his truck over and explained that after Granny died, no one wanted to take over the shop and it apparently was a whole town upset.

The gutted theater was stunning and people were actively working on it while we were there.

Stop 3: Oasis Travel Center - HILARIOUS stop!

We may have enjoyed ourselves on all of the silliness here. We were certainly making a scene.

B/c why not have handmade palm trees and a bunch of concrete animals in the middle of KS?

Jason decided to grab a few quiet moments enjoying his coffee in the car but apparently this was what he was seeing. The human Bear and I kept trying to get a pic and climb up fast enough and pose but it wasn't working. We were falling off, cracking up and then it made it harder but we eventually got the shot!

We also found this guy! Apparently people have been looking everywhere for him but he's right here in Colby, KS haha

Stop 4: World's Largest Easel - Goodland, KS

At our easel stop, we saw this amazing car and met the artist who drives it. He was on his way to Seattle for a Car Art Show.
