On the second half of our 8 day Salt Lake City excursion, we (Lindsey) wanted to see The Great Salt Lake! You can't come all the way across the country, specifically to Salt Lake City, and skip that part...can you? Maybe you should...see video at the end of the blog for the honest story.
It really was beautiful out there but it's sad how much has changed, and not for the better, over the years. We did our best to enjoy what we saw, even though I wasn't "allowed" to touch the water! haha

I'm sure the already non-ideal circumstances may have been worse because we picked the only day the temp went over 100 to try this out. That night there was a huge wind storm and the temp dropped to the 40s at night after this with perfect daytime weather. Hindsight (and maybe a forecast peeping would have been beneficial).

The day was redeemed with a stop at the Raising Cane's designed by Post Malone though! Of course the human Bear had a free something that she brought all the way across the country to use here. She's so funny and always prepared.

The last few days in our Salt Lake City adventure were some of the best! Although the human Bear wasn't feeling great for a couple of days, Jason and I got some quality time with amazing people. This week ended with great conversations, excellent food and breathtaking views:)

We met Dim at our hotel. We ended up talking for so long over breakfast and exchanging numbers. He was genuine, fun and funny!

And in typical Lindsey fashion, I mentioned to a friend, who happens to also be the human Bear's social studies teacher, that we were going on this trip. Well, she had a connection there so OF COURSE we are going to meet up. Shawn, thank you for your time, your energy and all of the awesome information about Salt Lake City. It was so fun to get to know you and we can't wait to see you in Baton Rouge!

We left our AirBnB for two nights in a different part of the city and it was the BEST decision. The trails by Big Cottonwood Canyon and the people we met took SLC to the next level.

We found so many places with really great tasting healthy food. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be to stay on track with our food. It was not cheap, but it was yummy and feels better than if we went off the rails.

We all worked together to keep it as healthy as we could by keeping up with the groceries. So glad Jason led the charge on this...I mostly just documented while the human Bear did her thing.

I'm proud of us for keeping up with our all of our movement. Salt Lake City definitely offers many different ways to get outside and keep moving.

I told y'all the temp dropped drastically. We tried to enjoy it outside but it was below 70 and windy so these Southern Louisiana folks were COLD!

Our last big walk before heading out was the most gorgeous!

Right on time, these 2 Bears are headed home. Beast Mode and I will go alone for the final leg. Be very afraid! Just like old times...just kidding, we can't do anything THAT crazy at this age. Right?

Thanks for picking up the 2 Bears Mom...

and getting them safely home! I know they are SO happy to be there. I, on the other hand, have a week to drive back and the ridiculousness started as soon as they were dropped off, but that's for another blog!

This has been the most enjoyable family trip we've had thus far and I'll cherish the memories forever. Beast Mode and I will be in touch as soon as we get out of our most recent craziness! Talk to you soon.
Quote Game - Every quote is in relation to the Great Salt Lake Adventure and then I just quit the quote keep up from exhaustion.
“Who is ready for some hot, buggy, stink?” on the way
“UGH, it smells like shit! Ugh, oh…aaahhh!”
“Well, you won’t forget it!l reply “ugh, I know”
“That IS pretty!” reply “PRETTY STINKY!”
“Ugh, it smells like the great salt lake in here” while eating at Raising Canes reply (in unison) “Uhm, that’s us!”
I promise there is a lot of beauty in it but it is a wild experience right now as well. This was just a step too far for the human Bear and Jason. I am usually pretty difficult to shock but I was shook. I'm sad I didn't get to see this beautiful part of nature at it's peak.
