WY Do We Love It Here So Much?

When you miss the Wyoming sign on the side of the interstate and realize the one at the visitor's center won't make up for it, so you turn around but when you see the Colorado sign you have to stop again and then come back after miles to finally catch the Wyoming sign you want!

Totally worth it!

We heard about Buford, WY before we left for our trip. Apparently, the story goes: a Vietnamese man bought the town, added a sign that said population of 1 for himself and opened his own coffee shop to share his coffee with whoever came through. Unfortunately, the coffee shop no longer exists nor does the sign. We didn't get a lot of info but after Granny's Soda Shoppe in Colby, KS, I didn't want to ask too many questions. Clearly the story is real because they sell the population 1 postcards, sweatshirts and all kinds of items. This was all we got to see but it was still interesting.

Although Buford was a bust, the rest of the drive was SO pretty! We got to see some amazing storms off in the distance and I caught some good lightening strikes on camera.

And then a random Lincoln head on top of rocks because...WY not?

I always love little signs and there was just something about checking out Downtown Laramie, WY and the first thing we see is a Burrow Tiger's jersey! Right where we are supposed to be. Too bad it wasn't actually Joe.

Sweet Melissa's food was SO GOOD!

We know we've found a great spot when all three of us enjoy our food and have all the vegan/vegetarian options plus more!

Grabbed some ice cream at the Big Dipper Ice Cream Shop to enjoy while strolling around downtown.

If you want to make a Jason Wesley happy...take him in a book store. If you put multiple used bookstores all within a short distance, he will be in HEAVEN!

As much as Jason loves a used book store, I LOVE trains. More the sound and shake of your soul when they go by. I think it has to do with sleeping at my grandparents' house when I was little and the bed would shake in the middle of the night with the sound of a train passing. It's stuck in my soul and I love it. Laramie was such a pleasant surprise where we all loved the weather, scenery, and vibe.

One of my old students, Myesha, reached out when I posted about our road trip. She let us know that she works for Hilton and could get us a family and friends pass for Hilton hotels. We got a hotel for 60 bucks RIGHT NEXT TO the University of Wyoming for our stay and it has been SO helpful along the way. People are so kind and willing to help out every time I go on adventures like this. We so appreciate you Myesha. THANK you so much. We love you.
From our great spot, Jason's early morning walks looked like this...

So, we had to go on a walk through campus before leaving town! Stunning and magical.

Full hippie transformation COMPLETE. Good job Jason! Look how happy he looks:)

Turtle Rock Coffee, etc. Yet another winner on the way out of town. Delicious food and kind people.
Salt Lake City, here we come but I think we are all going to miss Laramie more than we expected. We will meet again Wyoming, now that we know!

Quote Game:
“I’ll pee anywhere but into the wind.”
“I bet those are happy cows.”
“Only thing I know about driving out west is the west bank and maybe sometimes Bogalusa or Lake Charles!”
Convo when a car with some bumping bass passes by “What state are we in?” reply “Oh, feels like home!”
“10 miles to the next state line!” reply “GASP!”
“These are the states I can’t move to…*lists states*…bc they don’t have Raising Canes and it feels wrong in my soul betraying Todd Graves like that.”
“This feels like home.”
“You can’t tell it’s a Mormon church just by the shape of the building?” reply “Uhm…NO! Absolutely not.”
